February is Dental Health Month!!!

Here are some tips for a healthier smile!

  • Have a dental check-up and cleaning every 6 months!!  You may not think there is anything going on but having your teeth checked and cleaned on a regular basis can  help you avoid problems.  When a cavity is starting, you are not aware of anything.  We can detect cavities by X-rays and/or a visual exam.  If they are caught when they are small, you will be much happier than if you wait until you experience discomfort.  It will save you time and money!!
  • Brush twice a day for at least 2 minutes!!  It really isn’t that long to spend on your teeth.  Be sure you are brushing all the surfaces of your teeth and don’t forget to brush your tongue!
  • Floss, Floss, Floss!! It’s important to remove all food particles at the end of the day.  Anything left on or between the teeth starts to turn to plaque, then to tartar leading to problems with the gums and possible cavities. Just a few minutes at the end of the day can keep your teeth and gums healthy and give you a great smile!!!
  • Use your dental insurance!!  If you have dental coverage, don’t let it go to waste.  The benefits don’t carry over from year to year so come in for those check-ups!!
